2nd annual Best of 225 awards

This is the second annual Best of 225 Awards, and it’s no ordinary best-of list.
We began months ago by asking readers to nominate their favorite places, people and events in more than 60 categories. We tweaked last year’s categories to keep things fresh. Your response was overwhelming; we counted more than 33,000 individual nominations.
We tallied the top nominees by category, then turned the information over to Baton Rouge market research firm Survey Communications Inc.

S.C.I. conducted a random-sample survey from April 23 to May 6 from a database of more than 24,000 people with e-mail addresses. S.C.I. randomly asked 7,500 people to complete our survey.
A total of 1,817 people responded, a 24% response rate. (88 respondents were disqualified because they said they didn’t live within the 225 area code). In the end, a total of 1,729 people completed the questionnaire.
Winners got the most votes in their category, and the top two runners-up are listed in order of votes received.
