‘225’: We review Caliente Mexican Craving
Caliente Mexican Craving sits on West Lee Drive in a location that has seen many restaurants come and go. So much so that on the new restaurant’s website, the business states: “We’re breaking the curse of W. Lee.” In the latest issue of 225, our resident restaurant reviewer headed to the new spot to see if the gris-gris was working. Caliente has a big patio with a small stage for music that keeps busy thanks to drink and food specials almost every day. Inside is a cavernous space with a long bar and 10 margarita machines, plus two more for sangria. Throughout the evening, our critic was pleasantly surprised, especially with the entrée of Chile en Nogada, an unfried chile relleno stuffed with ground meat, fruit and pecans and topped with brandy cream.
