‘225’: B.R. Rum House trumps original New Orleans location

In the latest issue of 225, our restaurant reviewer has kind words for Baton Rouge’s location of the popular New Orleans eatery The Rum House. The restaurant comes to the Capital City under managing partners Michael Buchert and Kelly Ponder, who both grew up in Baton Rouge and have family here. Since opening the Crescent City location, Buchert and Ponder have been chomping at the bit to bring their Caribbean taqueria to the Capital Region. Among the menu items featured in the article is the Calypso Beef taco, which the critic calls a “flavorsome four-biter [that] left us both wishing for more” and came with a bean side dish that “could easily be my new choice for a last meal.” Read the full story.
