In January, we learned of some of your favorite things in Baton Rouge with our open nominations for Best of 225. In February, our official, scientific survey with your top nominees arrived in the inboxes of more than 18,000 subscribers of our e-newsletters (Dine, Weekender and Avenue Rouge), and the response was overwhelming. More than 3,000 surveys were completed this year. Three survey takers have been chosen at random to receive a $150 gift card to the local restaurant of their choosing among those seen in 225. They are Leslie Campbell, Ralph Hennessy and Elizabeth Eaton Steger.

This year, after all the surveys were tallied, we gathered a hungry panel of local culinary experts, food writers and well-traveled chowhounds to review the winners and give us their top choices in several categories. Collectively, they came up with many alternate suggestions for you, the readers. We’ve published 10 of their selections throughout the cover story, marked with a nifty fork and knife icon.
