10 great lunches under $10
Let’s face it—some days you’re just too tired to pack your own lunch. But just because you can’t brown-bag it doesn’t mean you have to blow your cash on a pricey lunch. 225 Dine has ten options that’ll leave your stomach—and your wallet—full! 1. Zippy’s Burritos Tacos & More: Located near the Perkins Road Overpass, Zippy’s serves up fast Mexican entrees for under $10 until 4 a.m. But one can save even more by cashing in on Zippy’s lunch specials. Try a specialty burrito, like the Berkley, or enjoy a mountain of crunchy nachos with your choice of shredded or melted cheese. 2. Zeeland Street Market: From sandwiches to soul food, this Garden District eatery has something good for everyone in your office. Zeeland’s plate lunches and southern entrées are executed just as well as its healthy veggie sandwiches. A favorite is the Arlington Health Nut, which features grilled pecans, Swiss cheese, avocado, tomato, Italian dressing and alfalfa sprouts for a mere $5.99. 3. Inga’s Subs and Salads: Inga’s Subs and Salads serves up just that—and they do it well. The sandwiches vary from a crisp veggie burger to a juicy steak sandwich. Don’t let the name fool you; there are also several enjoyable meat and vegetable teriyaki dishes to choose from. 4. Maxwell’s Market: Serving Baton Rouge from three locations, this deli is a city staple. Voted “best deli” in our 2011 Best of 225 issue, Maxwell’s provides a tasty variety of meat and cheese deli options and delectable prepared meals. 5. Atcha Greek & Lebanese Café: Located off LSU’s west campus and housed in a former Pizza Hut, this Mediterranean café serves authentic and affordable cuisine. With well-seasoned gyros and platters well under $10, one can afford to save room for dessert. Try the light and flaky pistachio baklava for a sweet finish!
