Chef Chris Wadsworth’s Goûter Restaurant sets opening date

The highly anticipated Goûter Restaurant will open its doors for the first time on March 6 for its Dinner & A Movie event in partnership with Classic Productions, according to owner and chef Chris Wadsworth.

The restaurant’s opening was initially expected in time for Valentine’s Day, but was delayed.

The BYOB screening features the documentary Pech River Boys: Tales From Afghanistan, and admission prices go toward the We Defy Foundation, a charity chosen by the film’s soldiers.

The official soft opening of Goûter, located at 3897 Government St., will follow with an inaugural lunch service on March 7.


Award-winning New Orleans chef to headline Jam and Jazz Brunch

Chef John Besh will headline Catholic Community Radio’s first annual fundraiser, the Jam and Jazz Brunch on Saturday, Feb. 27, at the Renaissance Hotel.

Besh will be preparing south Louisiana brunch favorites, and will be joined by Archdiocese of New Orleans priest and Good Shepherd Parish pastor Monsignor Christopher Nalty.

A pre-brunch social begins at 9 a.m. and the brunch begins at 10 a.m. Advance tickets may be purchased here for $75 each.

Local food manufacturer receives Fiery Food Challenge award

Specialty foods company Most Delightful Foods, LLC was honored with second place in the Fiery Food Challenge cook-off’s dip/salsa category for its Taste the Seasons Cajun Trinity Mix.

Produced by Spicy Food Productions, the Fiery Food Challenge is considered one of the most prestigious spicy, zesty food product competitions in the food industry.

Most Delightful Foods’ second place award was announced Jan. 29, during ZestFest 2016 in Dallas, Texas. The local company specializes in cheese spreads and dip mixes.


Tin Roof Brewing Company to release special brews next week

Tin Roof Brewing Company will celebrate the release of brews Smiling Ivan and Yonder Hefe in its tap room on Friday, Feb. 26.

Yonder Hefe is seasonal, and is said to be a perfect pairing for crawfish in the spring. The brew has a clove aroma and a pinch of banana. Smiling Ivan is a single batch created with the complex flavors of chocolate, toffee, coffee, raisin, plum and fig.

The Feb. 26 celebration begins at 5 p.m. and will include live music and food. The first 30 guests to order the Yonder Hefe can keep their 16-ounce Tin Roof pint glass.
