Dear Louisiana,
To me we are not just jazz,
we are not just Hurricane Katrina,
we are not just Mardi Gras and mudbugs.

To me we are seasonally confused wildflowers,
we are radiating heat subdued by swimming holes,

And our secrets are hidden in the swamps.

To me our story is the story of sadness, kindness, love and hope.
Our story is old and our people wear it around their necks with honor and pride.
