Mid City beer garden moving forward to Metro Council

The proposed Government Street beer garden moved past the Planning Commission and is scheduled to go before the Metro Council Oct. 21.

A Facebook page for the meeting says the Metro Council is the final determinant as to whether the city rezones the space at the corner of Government Street and Steele Boulevard.

Mid City residents are encouraged to attend the meeting to voice opinions on the rezoning.

The meeting is at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21, in City Hall, Room 348.


Ralph and Kacoo’s to host murder mystery-themed dinner

The Louisiana Voices of Women Theatre Company is performing “Murder at the Polite Ladies Society” at Ralph and Kacoo’s Saturday, Oct. 24, and Sunday, Oct. 25.

Ralph and Kacoo’s will serve attendees a three-course meal, and a cash bar will be available until the performance begins.

The meal starts out with a Sensation Salad and features five entrees, including crabmeat-stuffed shrimp, crawfish etouffee with fish filet, charbroiled chicken and more.

Dessert choices include New Orleans-style bread pudding with a bourbon sauce and strawberry cheesecake.

Galatoire’s Bistro to host first installment of guest chef dinner series

To launch a new collaborative cooking series, Galatoire’s Bistro will host a “Taste of New Orleans” dinner Oct. 20 at 7 p.m.

The dinner will feature a one-time menu designed by guest chef Leon Galatoire and Galatoire’s Bistro executive chef Kelley McCann. In keeping with the Galatoire’s tradition, the menu will feature elevated and expanded takes on classic creole dishes.

The menu includes passed hors d’oeuvres, shrimp remoulade with micro greens, French garlic soup, casserole aubergines au gratin, porcini and rosemary crusted New York Strip and chocolate espresso panna cotta.
