Events picks: Friday is perfect for a White Light Night

Celebrate and see local art at the annual White Light Night
Mid City is the place to be this weekend. More than 50 businesses along the Government Street corridor known as the Mid City Art & Design Cultural District will be open 6 p.m.-10 p.m Friday, Nov. 21, for the annual White Light Night art hop. Participating businesses include Sally’s Circa 1857, Caffery Gallery, Brew Ha-Ha! and Radio Bar. Some participants will feature live art, food and music. This year’s White Light Night will also have the shuttle, and original art will be sold tax-free. For more information, to RSVP and get a full list of participants, click here.

Don’t hate! Go see this comedy show, instead
Manship Theatre hosts an evening of comedy and drag Saturday, Nov. 22. Pride1 presents “The No Hate Comedy Date,” which features two shows in one. First up is Lady Bunny’s “It’s All About the Bunny” at 5 p.m. and CoCo Peru and Shangela’s “An Evening with Miss CoCo & Shangela” at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $20. The shows will also feature appearances from India Farrah, Nicole Foxx, The Rouchnecks and the master of ceremonies, Miss Good Potato Salad (which is the greatest master of ceremonies name ever). Red Star hosts Hipster Bingo Wednesday, Nov. 19. This week’s hosts are The Babycakes. The fun starts at 8 p.m. and proceeds will go toward 96.9 WHYR Baton Rouge Community Radio. RSVP and get more information.

The LSU Film Club hosts its inaugural LSU Film Festival Friday, Nov. 21, at 8 p.m. at the University’s Capital Chambers. RSVP and get more information.
