The Lone Bellow is a Brooklyn based trio built around the songs of Zach Williams, who initially found source material for the project in a journal he kept while his wife had been temporarily paralyzed in an equestrian accident.

The core roster of the band was filled out by two of Williams’ close friends, Kanene Donehy Pipkin on mandolin and vocals and Brian Elmquist on guitar and vocals. The trio has earned widespread attention for its gospel and Americana-infused pop songs. The band’s 2013 self-titled debut album landed on the year-end lists of many major publications last year.

The band has a new album on the way, Then Came The Morning, set to be released January 27th. Aaron Dresser of The National produced the new one, and it marks a stylistic shift away from the sparse roots pop arrangements of their debut, which seemed to follow on the heels of the successes of pop folk bands like The Lumineers and Mumford & Sons.

The new album promises warmer, richer textures and more complex instrumentation than their previous recordings, without any loss of the close three part harmonies and big catchy hooks that have become their calling card. The other thing the band has earned a reputation for is their stirring and powerful live performances, which should translate very well to the space at the Spanish Moon.
