Red Stick Revelry 2014 lineup announced

Halloween hasn’t even started, and local leaders are already offering up details on the Capital City’s second-ever end-of-the-year celebration.

The city’s official New Year’s Eve party, Red Stick Revelry, will expand with a performance from David St. Romain at 6:30 p.m. at the Crest Stage, followed by a performance from Phat Hat 9 p.m.-midnight. Wednesday’s celebrity waiter event at Stroubes served as a kick-off for the countdown to the celebration, which has its own amazing theme song:

Mayor Kip Holden says the idea behind Red Stick Revelry is to make “Baton Rouge a New Year’s Eve destination city.” This year’s festivities will also include an early 11 a.m.-noon celebration for kids with hands-on activities from the Arts Council and more.

Last year’s inaugural event drew an estimated 15,000 people and started a new tradition of the midnight drop of a nine-foot LED-lit Red Stick from 30 feet above the Beacon in Town Square.
