‘225’: Where to enjoy a muffuletta in Baton Rouge

The Capital City loves its muffulettas, and that means options are everywhere for this classic sandwich. “In the beginning, the muffuletta was Everyman fast food—a sandwich of convenience,” writes Maggie Heyn Richardson in the latest issue of 225. Richardson’s article highlights a few of the Red Stick’s top choices, including the Italian grocery Pocorello’s Casa D’Italia (12240 Coursey Blvd.). Pocorello’s muffuletta is thick and filled with layers upon layers of lightly smoked ham, Genoa salami, mortadella, provolone and lots of homemade olive salad.
