Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are back as the dynamic duo that took 2012 by surprise. The actors return as officers Jenko and Schmidt in the New Orleans-shot 22 Jump Street. After uncovering a drug plot at a high school in 21 Jump Street, the partners now head to college, where they infiltrate the bohemian art major scene. At the same time, the cops begin to question their partnership. While the first entry in this possible franchise relied on the chemistry of Tatum and Hill, the sequel adds a bit of meta-humor, poking fun at its own premise as well as paying homage to action movie sequels such as Lethal Weapon 2 and Die Hard 2. If this one can capture an ounce of the first movie’s energy, we could be looking at 23 Jump Street in no time. Ice Cube and Nick Offerman reprise their roles as Captain Dickson and Deputy Chief Hardy, respectively. Jillian Bell (Workaholics) and Peter Stormare (Fargo) also co-star. Rated R.
