See the closing night of the Masterworks Series

The Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra’s 65th anniversary season comes to a close Thursday night with a Masterworks Series concert. The show takes place at the River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. and will include performances of He Zhanhao and Chen Gang’s “The Butterfly Lovers Concerto” and Ravel’s “Daphnis and Chloe.” Tickets start at $35. Throughout the show, BRSO will be telling the stories of the compositions through Twitter and asking audience members to participate in the event using designated “Twitter Zones.” The final concert of the season will also see local trumpeter and band director John Gray receive his Teacher of the Year award. Kishi Bashi, Plume Giant. The multi-instrumentalist performs at Spanish Moon. 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance.
The Bernie Worrell Orchestra, Captain Green. Jazz and funk bands perform at Mud and Water. Doors open at 8 p.m. $20.

Rock N Rowe. Baton Rouge Music Studios’ Young Band Nation performs at Perkins Rowe’s Town Square Park as part of the free concert series. 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
Lynn Anselmo Songwriters Night. Hear local songwriters in the side bar at Chelsea’s Café. 7 p.m.

Live After Five. Perkins Road, a variety band, performs at the free concert series at North Boulevard’s Town Square. 5 p.m.
Little Goliath. The Legendary Noise Floor (3774 Government St.) hosts live painting from Patrick Tiek, Jade Brady and Gabriel Saint as well as live music. 6 p.m.
