See the closing night of the Masterworks Series

The Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra’s 65th anniversary season comes to a close Thursday night with a Masterworks Series concert. The show takes place at the River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. and will include performances of He Zhanhao and Chen Gang’s “The Butterfly Lovers Concerto” and Ravel’s “Daphnis and Chloe.” Tickets start at $35. Throughout the show, BRSO will be telling the stories of the compositions through Twitter and asking audience members to participate in the event using designated “Twitter Zones.” The final concert of the season will also see local trumpeter and band director John Gray receive his Teacher of the Year award. The Bernie Worrell Orchestra, Captain Green. Jazz and funk bands perform at Mud and Water. Doors open at 8 p.m. $20.
