Park it

The third annual Art in the Park event returns to City Park this month, and this year includes a new photography project: “Picture Your Park.”

Organizers with BREC and Baton Rouge Gallery accepted around 35 photo submissions that showcased City Park. Artist David Humphreys selected the final collection, which will be displayed on the park grounds.

“We thought this was a really great idea to promote all the great things that go on at the park and all the activities we have available,” says Jenny Poulter, BREC special facilities manager.

Also this year, BRG artist members will showcase their work as part of a sale inside the gallery. A stage on the lawn behind the gallery will feature Cangelosi Dance Project and the Baton Rouge High symphony band as well as opera and theatre performances. Another stage will feature the Adult Music Club and other musicians.

The event will also include children’s activities, art demonstrations and a wine tasting on the gallery terrace.

Art in the Park is March 8, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. For more information, visit brec.org and batonrougegallery.org.
