House of Cards star coming to Baton Rouge
Set to begin production March 24 at Celtic Media Centre in Baton Rouge, more casting news is rolling in for the 20th Century Fox reboot of Marvel’s Fantastic Four.
In addition to Fruitvale Station star Michael B. Jordan—previously announced as portraying Johnny Storm/The Human Torch—Variety reports that House of Cards actress Kate Mara recently inked a deal for the part of Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman. Jessica Alba played the same role in the 2005 version of the comic book franchise.
The sister of Oscar-nominated actress Rooney Mara (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Kate Mara appeared in numerous TV and film projects like Brokeback Mountain, We Are Marshall, American Horror Story and 127 Hours before receiving critical acclaim for her current role as Zoe Barnes, a young reporter on House of Cards. The just-released season 2 of the Netflix original series is available for streaming now.

Expected to join Mara are English actor Jamie Bell (Billy Elliot, The Adventures of Tintin) as Ben Grimm/The Thing, and Miles Teller (Divergent, The Spectacular Now) as Reid Richards/Mr. Fantastic. Both are in talks for co-staring roles in the super hero picture.
The new Fantastic Four screenplay was re-written by Simon Kinberg, who penned Sherlock Holmes as well as the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past. This rewrite caused a delay of the film originally planned to begin shooting in Baton Rouge several months ago. Jordan’s Chronicle director Josh Trank is set to direct.
The Fox production is scheduled to run several months in Baton Rouge using the bulk of the sound stages at Celtic, which recently became independent from the California-based company that had previously managed its studio operations. Click here for more on this development from Daily Report.
