Watch the first parade of the Mardi Gras season this weekend – Mardi Gras gets an early start downtown thanks to the Krewe of Jupiter and Juno.

Mardi Gras gets an early start downtown thanks to the Krewe of Jupiter and Juno. This is the first parade of the season, and the revelry rolls Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The parade runs through downtown, beginning at Government Street and ending at South River Road. This year’s theme is “Romancing the Ages.” Founded in 2003, Krewe of Jupiter and Juno was the first Baton Rouge nighttime parade to offer the opportunity for singles and couples to ride together by featuring co-ed, all-male and all-female floats. Paying homage to all things amorous, the Krewe is named after the Roman god couple Jupiter and Juno. For more information on the parade and the krewe, click here.
