Triumph Kitchen’s opening is ‘close,’ chef planning pop-up dinner
Chef Chris Wadsworth surprised many last year when he announced he would be opening the area’s first culinary school for at-risk youths downtown, to be called Triumph Kitchen.
Wadsworth spoke with 225 Dine and says the front of house is so close to opening he can “taste it.”
“We will be opening the coffee bar to the public in February,” he says. “Some of the first class of students are already in place receiving training. Back of house labs will be conducted upstairs until the downstairs kitchen is done.”
Wadsworth says he’s working with a new contractor, Will Hammack, who is Donald Link’s brother-in-law and built the Cochon locations. David Hebert is also helping to make sure the project is “top notch,” according to Wadsworth.
The changes have pushed the opening back a bit, but Wadsworth is excited to show the public what he’s been working on. On Feb. 26, he and 225 contributor Jay Ducote will host a Graffiti Pop-Up Dinner at Triumph Kitchen at 7 p.m. Tickets and more information are available here.
