Prince to headline 20th annual Essence Festival – Rock ‘n’ roll royalty comes to New Orleans next July
Prince, the singer-songwriter behind hits such as “Purple Rain” and “1999,” will headline the 20th annual Essence Festival, according to the Associated Press.
The 2014 celebration of black music and culture will be held July 3-6 in New Orleans.
This isn’t the first time Prince has performed at Essence. He did so in 2004, and also headlined this year’s South by Southwest Music Festival in Austin, Texas. This year, Prince has released a couple of singles—”Breakfast Can Wait,” which featured Dave Chappelle’s mock of the singer as the cover art; and “Screwdriver.”
