Bistro for Change tonight – Jar for Change teams up with Bistro Byronz

Joey Roth has always looks for spare change on the ground.

The generous seven-year-old local just didn’t know what to do with all those coins until this September.

After hearing the story about Salesforce.com chairman and CEO Marc Benioff donating $100 million to build a hospital in San Francisco, Roth told his family he wanted to build a hospital, too.

Roth set to work, creating jars to put all around town and starting a movement called Jar for Change.

“It’s a pretty nice goal he set at seven years old,” Roth’s father, Michael, says. “The idea is to get all kids everywhere thinking like he does, putting jars out into the community for their own cause of their choice. The benefit here is you get these children growing up with that philanthropic mindset.”

So far, Roth has raised around $1,000 for Woman’s Hospital, Michael says. Roth has partnered with local businesses such as Latte e Miele, Dearman’s and others to put his change jars on site, asking passing patrons to offer whatever they have to help the local hospital.

Feeling inspired by the effort, Bistro Byronz will host a “Bistro for Change” event tonight where 20% of proceeds from dine-in and take-out orders will be made into change for Roth’s endeavor. All customers have to do is let the server know they are “bistro-ing for change.”
