The man with that funky bass sound comes to Baton Rouge this week. Bootsy Collins will perform at The Varsity Thursday night. The Funk Unity Band and DJ Marquis will also be on hand. Tickets are $25 in advance and available here. Collins was born in Cincinnati and quickly made a name for himself, becoming one of the hardest-working bass players in the music industry, touring alongside James Brown, George Clinton, Parliament Funkadelic and many more. More recently, he’s teamed up with everyone from Buckethead to Snoop Dogg. If you need your fill of funk, this is the show to catch. Doors open at 8 p.m. The show starts at 9 p.m.
