Heads up: Art and wine at Circa 1857

By day, Circa 1857 is the city’s shabby chic mecca, the architectural salvage yard and gift store that has amassed a quirky collection of old and new gifts, art and furnishings. It’s also the anchor store in a complex that includes Décor Rouge, Mosaic Garden, My Louise, Rue Cou Cou, Sally’s Circa 1857 and Yvette Marie’s Café—stores that often team up to throw a party.

One such party is coming up as the stores will host Art & Wine: The Wine Tasting Experience Friday, Oct. 25, at 6 p.m. Buy a tasting glass for $20 and sample wines, nibble on hors d’oeuvres prepared by Yvette Marie’s, view art and browse from store to store in the balmy fall weather. The event is sponsored by Calandro’s Select Cellars on Government Street; 25% of proceeds will benefit Hospice of Greater Baton Rouge. —Maggie Heyn Richardson
