Green Beans with Toasted Almonds

1 lb. fresh green beans, trimmed and cleaned
1/3 cup toasted slivered almonds
2 Tbsp. butter
Salt and pepper to taste

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil.
2. Drop in the green beans and allow them to “blanch” for 2 to 3 minutes depending on their thickness.
3. Once the beans have turned bright green and are tender but still quite firm, drain them and run them under cold water to stop them from cooking any further.
4. Heat a large skillet and add in the slivered almonds. Stir the almonds around until they begin to turn golden in color.
5. Remove the almonds and return the skillet to the heat.
6. Melt the butter in the skillet and then add in the blanched green beans. Toss the beans around to coat.
7. Season them with a bit of salt and pepper and toss in the toasted almonds. Serve immediately.
