Rank Wildcat places at The Washington Cup

Rank Wildcat’s stock continues to rise in the spirits world. The Lafayette-based micro-distillery placed as a winner for its sweet crude rum in The Washington Cup, a competition exclusively for American-made spirits and liqueurs.

Rank Wildcat was listed as one of the top tastes with five others, including Buffalo Trace’s Sazerac Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey and Knob Creek’s Rye and Small Batch Bourbon whiskeys. Nearly 100 spirits entered the competition, which was based on three phases—judges’, bartenders’ and people’s choice. The scoring and analysis took place between July and September.

Rank Wildcat co-founder and distiller David C. Meaux says he was all smiles when he heard the announcement Monday. “We are thrilled that a craft product from Louisiana’s smallest rum distillery is represented in such a small and prestigious group,” Meaux says.
