Meet the new Poet Laureate of Louisiana

Louisiana’s reigning Poet Laureate, Ava Leavell Haymon, is launching her latest poetry collection Sunday at the LSU School of Music Recital Hall. Eldest Daughter features stirring words about family and life from a Southern woman with a skill for verse. Haymon will be signing copies of the book as well as reading selections and discussing her writing and creative process, which stretches from teaching in Baton Rouge to leading writers’ retreats in the mountains of New Mexico.
