Celebrate the art and music of hip hop culture this weekend at the Baton Rouge Hip Hop Festival. The three-day event features a poetry slam, graffiti art, DJ classes, educator and dance workshops and performances in and around the Shaw Center. An opening night reception kicks off at 6 p.m. Thursday and will be followed by a concert at 8 p.m. in Hartley/Vey Studio. The concert features performances from Marcel P. Black, The Kingmakers, Marz the Superior and DJ Pac Man. Tickets for the opening night block party are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
