Tailgating 101 with 225 Dine

This weekend marks the season opener for LSU football. As the Tigers take on the TCU Horned Frogs in Dallas at Cowboys Stadium, fans who stay in Baton Rouge might be wondering how to celebrate.
Not to worry, 225 Dine has you covered.

In the August issue of 225, Tracey Koch and Stephanie Riegel have prepared a tailgate brunch. The menu for the August edition of “Dining In” features a grilled boudin frittata, orange-scented palmiers, grilled Granny Smith apples with maple pecans and yogurt and a Salty Dog cocktail. Get all the recipes here.

In preparation for the season, 225 also asked a few tailgaters known for their gameday grub about their favorite dishes to prepare. Robert Romero says he prepares his eggs Benedict around 8 a.m., and “it ends up being quite a production.” Read about his and Crystal Cortez’s pulled pork loin sandwiches here.

Also in the August issue, we looked at stadium food at universities across the country, and asked our readers what they’d like to see on the menu in Death Valley. Read the article here.

If you happen to find yourself in Dallas for the game, we’ve got a few selections for places to eat that you cannot miss here.

Looking to just chill out in the Red Stick and watch the game with a few friends? Well, Baton Rouge has more than a few options. You can’t go wrong with Walk-On’s or The Chimes. The former features an updated menu and huge HD TV screens; while the latter has been the traditional go-to for decades with its hefty beer selection and a range of appetizers, sandwiches and seafood platters. The Bulldog and The Pelican House also have huge selections of craft beers on tap and plenty of flat screen TVs. If you’re looking for something new, try out Le Bon Temps Bar and Grill, which just opened this summer and features an upscale sports bar. —Matthew Sigur
