Matt Damon needs a ticket to Elysium – Outside of comic-book films, the summer sci-fi options have been bare.
Outside of comic-book films, the summer sci-fi options have been bare. Director Neill Blomkamp, who hit the scene with the sleeper hit District 9, is giving the season another jolt with this weekend’s Elysium. This one is also set in the future—the year 2154—and features a desolate and desperate Earth setting. Matt Damon stars as Max, a man who goes on a mission to Elysium, the man-made space station where only the best and wealthiest humans live and not just anyone can enter. From the look of the trailers, Blomkamp’s hit wasn’t just a flash in the pan. This talent could be here to stay. The box office will be packed this weekend, as several other films compete for the No. 1 spot. However, Elysium could be the surprise of the summer. Rated R. Check out the trailer below.
