Haunting opera at the Shaver Theatre Thursday
To celebrate the 100th birthday of composer and pianist Benjamin Britten, Dugg McDonough has teamed up with conductor Michael Borowtiz and the LSU Symphony Orchestra to perform Britten’s haunting ballad opera, The Turn of the Screw. The chamber opera is based on the Henry James novel of the same name, and its plot focuses on the loss of innocence. Musical theatre fans take note: The Turn of the Screw is considered one of the finest 20th century operas. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Shaver Theatre.
