Elixir of Love at the River Center

Opera Louisiane tackles its first grand opera with a performance of Donizetti’s Elixir of Love Friday at the Baton Rouge River Center. Sung in Italian, with English translations projected above the stage, audiences will be transported to a rural Italian village where a peasant longs to win the hand of a wealthy businesswoman. Love gets a helping hand when the peasant purchases the eponymous elixir from a traveling salesman, and lovelorn hijinks ensue. 7:30 p.m. Click here for tickets.
