Zero Dark Thirty (in theaters Friday)
Remember nearly two years ago when President Obama appeared on television to announce the death of Osama bin Laden? Many Americans rejoiced that night, but a few had to go back to the drawing board.
Thanks to the efforts of Navy SEAL Team 6, director Kathryn Bigelow, the Oscar winner behind the bomb-defusing drama The Hurt Locker, had to change her entire script for the film she was developing about the unsuccessful hunt for the 9/11 mastermind.
This week’s arrival, Zero Dark Thirty—military slang for 30 minutes after midnight—is Bigelow’s reworked military and espionage thriller detailing the decade-long search and ultimate killing of bin Laden inside a compound in Pakistan.
