The 12 Strays of Christmas
Just in time for the holidays, CAA introduces the 12 Strays of Christmas. Throughout December, all shelter animals are available for adoption for only $12. Remarkably, that fee includes a veterinary examination, spaying/neutering, vaccinations, microchipping and heartworm or FIV testing.
A record-breaking 100 pets have found a home for the holidays in the only first 10 days of December. That is an astonishing number considering there were approximately 65 adoptions in the first 10 days this past November and 62 found new homes in the beginning of December 2011. But, hundreds more are animals are still available.
“We have cats and dogs, large and small, young and old, pure bred and pure mutt,” says Volunteer Coordinator Cathy Coates. “So, if you are looking for a pet for the holidays, the first place to visit is CAA.”

CAA has created YouTube video featuring local actress Jodi Golden to showcase some of its adorable, adoptable shelter animals.
CAA hosts dog and cat adoption at the East Baton Rouge Animal Shelter near the airport at 2680 Progress Road. The shelter is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. On Thursday, the shelter remains open until 7 p.m.
