Rockstarting Louisiana!

This week a couple game-changing startup activities are afoot, starting with Innovation Take-Out Thursday night from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Lyceum, and culminating with an event on Friday that is destined to change the face of Baton Rouge.

First, the backstory.

Rockstart Accelerator, based in Amsterdam, runs a six month program for startups that takes founders through ideation, team formation, business model and product development, market validation, and launch.

Rockstart’s inaugural startup class kicked off last fall and attracted ten teams of entrepreneurs from around the globe. Six months and 99 mentors later, they launched their startups at a demo day in Amsterdam this summer. Now, the ten Rockstart startups are touring the US for a couple weeks.

A few friends and I decided that Baton Rouge needed to meet Rockstart. And vice versa.

So this coming Thursday night, you, and all the other awesome peeps of Baton Rouge, will have your chance to meet Jim Digby, co-founder of Rockstart Accelerator, as well as a couple of his rocking startups.

Jim Digby will be the special guest at Innovation Take-Out this Thursday night at the Lyceum, starting at 6:00 pm for free food and cash bar, with the event ending at 8:00 pm, just in time to head out to 3rd Street and whatever fun is to be had there.

He’ll share his insight into how to start and grow your own startup—or whatever your dream is—right here in Louisiana. He’s a global kind of guy—he lives in Copenhagen, founded the Nordic Startup Awards, and runs the Amsterdam-based Rockstart program—but his message is decidedly “grow local.”

Innovation Take-Out is free and open to all doers, dreamers, movers and shakers. And if you’re already well on your way to making your dream a reality, come join us to meet like-minded people who are on the same path as you.

As for Friday? Stay tuned. Something big is about to hit Baton Rouge. $5 million dollars big. Watch for it.

See you Thursday night. Rockstart it!
