Whispers – Chit-chat, scuttlebutt and scoop

Officers within the Baton Rouge Police Department are complaining about being disciplined for minor infractions, being transferred to new shifts and other changes enacted by new Chief Dewayne White, according to a letter sent to 225 and signed “An Anonymous Voice close to the heart of BRPD.”

“Many uniform patrol squads have been split up. Officers have been constantly written up for minor infractions that would have never happened with previous administration,” the anonymous letter writer said.

While 225 cannot confirm these allegations, White has told us previously that he believes the department had been “complacent,” and he hinted at reallocating resources.

Suri Cruise, daughter of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, received two boxes of special treats for the birthday she celebrated in Baton Rouge recently, courtesy of the children of David (pictured) and Victoria Beckham. Local cupcake bakery Cupcake Couture got the call for two dozen chocolate and vanilla cupcakes with a note reading “Dear Suri, Happy Birthday! Love, Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz & Harper.” The cupcakes were prepared in a deluxe box to look “extra girly and cute,” says co-owner Lauren Whittle.

A massive alligator estimated to weigh 900 pounds and measure 11-feet long was caught recently in St. Francisville.

The toothy specimen was first spotted on the property of septuagenarian Beryl Eisworth who was dressed in a period “prairie” gown for a local historical event when her husband called for her to “come quick.” Eisworth hiked up her dress, hopped on the family four-wheeler and sped to her husband’s side.

A team of area gator wranglers not-affiliated with Swamp People but contracted by the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries removed the animal. “Seeing these guys handle this gator, it was just wild,” Eisworth says.
