‘Miracle’ on ice
The Office star John Krasinski makes family-friendly drama Big Miracle his first big screen, non-indie leading role this Friday. Staring as a reporter in a backwater Alaska town, Krasinski stumbles upon the story of the year when a family of whales is trapped in rapidly forming ice. After recruiting his Green Peace, animal-loving ex to help, the townspeople and the entire state get behind the effort to save the whales. Drew Barrymore co-stars as Krasinski’s former flame to the rescue. While Krasinski and Barrymore seek assistance from the state’s indignant governor, played by Stephen Root, they rediscover what they loved about each other. Ted Danson and Tim Blake Nelson co-star. Directed by The Office helmer Ken Kwapis. Rated PG.
