Christmas parade rolls downtown

No Christmas in Louisiana would be complete without a parade, and downtown’s is a doozy, with dozens of brightly lit floats and fire trucks winding their way through the streets of Baton Rouge. This Saturday marks the 61st anniversary of this holiday tradition, sponsored by the Cortana Kiwanis club, a community volunteer and service organization that helps kids and families all over the Capital Area. Floats, bands, horses and fun await you—you might even spot Santa if you look close enough. If you join the more than 100,000 people who attend each year, bundle up and prepare to be wowed. 5:30 p.m. Free to the public. christmasinbr.com
