All-star ‘Cars’

Lightning McQueen, voiced by Owen Wilson, and his pick-up pal Mater, enlivened by the always-affable Larry the Cable Guy, returned this summer for Cars 2, Disney Pixar’s follow up to the hit original from 2006, and the sequel is new on DVD this week. With McQueen competing overseas in the World Grand Prix, Mater finds himself accidentally caught up in a dangerous game of international espionage. When a new eco-friendly fuel is invented to replace good old fashioned gasoline, a diabolical plan to use electromagnetic waves to blow up these new cars as they race hopes to force the industry back to using fossil fuels. It’s up to McQueen and his friends to put a stop to it. Michael Caine, Bonnie Hunt, Eddie Izzard, Emily Mortimer and Cheech Marin lend their voices to this family-friendly comedy adventure. Rated PG.
