Restaurant review: Oscar’s Ice Cream and Pizza Joint

A combination hatched in every child’s dreams, savory pizza and sweet ice cream get a sophisticated makeover when they are skillfully crafted to satisfy even the most experienced of palates at Oscar’s Ice Cream & Pizza Joint. The local eatery opened on Perkins Road in the fall of 2009 and recently underwent a change in management, but it retains an ambitious menu of handcrafted pizzas, Italian-inspired dishes, brunch and lunch specials, and sweet treats. There are many pizza places in Baton Rouge, but Oscar’s goes out of its way to push the envelope with pies that include everything from toasted pecans and chipotle beef to figs, gator sausage and Bechamel sauce.
