Scuttlebutt: Folse’s ‘Stirrin’ It Up’ moves from WRKF … Bite Club: Crawfish canceled due to rising water

Stirrin’ up the schedule: Chef John Folse’s popular weekly radio talk show, Stirrin It Up, is moving this week from its familiar home on Baton Rouge public radio to Talk 107.3 FM. But the local NPR affiliate is set to replace Folse with a program hosted by Poppy Tooker, the New Orleans culinary expert. Tooker’s Louisiana Eats! program debuted at 3 p.m. last Saturday on WRKF. Folse’s Stirrin’ it Up will move to 107.3 on May 21 and airs at 4 p.m. Folse is the second local host recently to move a Saturday program from WRKF to the new Guaranty Broadcasting news-talk station. Louis Miller, the local gardening expert, is now on Talk 107.3. Crawfish canned: The rising Mississippi waters have caused the cancellation of the second, crawfish-themed round of biteandbooze.com’s “Bite Club,” which was to be held in conjunction with the Hollywood Casino’s crawfish festival later this month. “We thought about trying to find a new venue for our event, but decided to just go ahead and call it off as well,” explained organizer Jay Ducote. The next biteandbooze.com event is planned tentatively for August: a homebrew competition to be held in partnership with Mockler Beverage. Keep your eyes on 225 Dine in coming weeks for more details.
