Tidbits: Le Petit Houmas offers Sunday brunch; Tutti Frutti opens on Corporate
Houmas House Plantation in Darrow is the latest restaurant to get into the brunch game, with the opening of Le Petit Houmas Restaurant. A cross between their lunchtime restaurant, Café Burnside, and their fine dining restaurant, Latil’s Landing, Le Petit Houmas will be open on Sundays only, from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m., serving southern breakfast faves like grits and grillades alongside specialty dishes from the Latil’s menu. Visit houmashouse.com for more information. … Just as pizza was the hot trend of 2010, self-serve frozen yogurt is definitely proving to be the big booming trend of 2011. Another fro-yo franchise, Tutti Frutti, has joined a list of establishments including chains like Menchie’s, Yogurtland and Swirll, as well as homegrown establishments like Bosco’s and Splendido. The California-based chain offers a wide selection of fruit and cream-flavored fro-yo, from the familiar (such as grape, pineapple, blueberry) to the exotic (taro, green tea and lychee). To celebrate the store’s opening, Tutti Frutti will offer $1 yogurt all day long on May 14. Click here to see a photo gallery of the franchise’s new Baton Rouge location, on Corporate Boulevard.
