‘Surfer’ safari

Based on the true story of 13-year-old competitive surfer Bethany Hamilton who fell victim to a vicious shark attack, Soul Surfer arrives in theaters Friday. Anna SophiaRobb, no stranger to Baton Rouge having filmed The Reaping here a few years ago, stars as Hamilton, a young girl forced to summon the faith and the courage to battle back after the horrific loss of her arm to once again pursue her passion for surfing and inspire countless others who face seemingly insurmountable obstacles. A faith-based film from Disney’s Even Stevens co-creator Sean McNamara, Soul Surfer is an uplifting drama for the entire family with Helen Hunt and Dennis Quaid portraying Hamilton’s parents. Craig T. Nelson and Carrie Underwood co-star. Rated PG.
