A sparkling wine for the season
A go-to sparkling wine is irreplaceable in spring and summer, as warmer temps invite something crisp and cool to start to things off at night. Bellinis and Kir Royales are among my favorite cocktails in hot weather, not to mention a simple glass of the right bubbly to get the palate ready. Champagne is often too pricey for everyday use. Moreover, this is a case where I’m looking for something whose straightforward texture gets top billing. Last week, mystery solved; I found a great Prosecco at Martin Wine Cellar in Baton Rouge that fits the bill. Adriano Adami Prosecco Garbel Brut Treviso ($16) is dry with hints of citrus and a finish that’s unbelievably clean. There are no harsh edges here, nor a cloying aftertaste. It’s smooth and fresh, and filled with possibilities.
