5 things you don’t know about Dwayne Sanburn, 13th Gate founder

1 He’s a registered nurse. “Though I haven’t been in nursing for 10 years, I still have my license. I worked in the ICU at the VA Medical Center in Pineville. I went to college to become a nurse to make enough money to open a haunted house.”

2 His first haunted house was called Louisiana Nightmares, and was open for nine years in Alexandria. “While running that, I started Midnight Productions for portable haunted houses. From 1998 to 2001, I would set up the house in LSU’s live-stock arena, bringing a different show every year.”

3 His wife Kathryn and their two dogs run the ticket booth at The 13th Gate. “Daisy is a Chiffon; when she works she thinks everyone’s there to see her, and she always sticks her head out the window.”

4 His favorite destination is Las Vegas. “I’m not a huge gambler. I just love the big shows. It’s the ultimate experience.”

5 Outside of horror and all things Halloween, he’s a big fan of Harry Potter, Star Trek and The Lord of the Rings.
