Jambalaya Jam gets revamped

If you’ve ever lamented your lack of time to participate in the Capital Area United Way’s wildly popular annual Jambalaya Jam, this is the year for you. For the last 23 years, the United Way has hosted one of the largest jambalaya cook-off events in the state in the River Center, in the middle of the day. Thursday, Sept. 23, the CAUW is shaking things up and making this year’s Jam an unforgettable evening event. In addition to the usual incredible combined talents of forty jambalaya chefs going head-to-head over who makes the dirtiest rice, a bevy of Third Street establishments will offer you drink specials and danceable tunes. Local bands like Gal Holiday & The Honky-Tonk Revue and 484 South will set the stages ablaze up and down the street, from The Roux House to Punchers. You’ll also be able to grab free samples of local faves like Brew Ha-Ha’s famous cake balls and sips of CC’s Mochasippis. $10 gets you an all-you-can-eat jambalaya ticket—or you can spring for the $25 Third Street Sampler, which also gets you in at drink tastings at several participating bars. There’s also a VIP experience for $75, so you can chill on Boudreaux & Thibodeaux’s second floor and watch the action. Don’t want to stay, but still want to taste the action? You can get a to-go plate for just $7. To purchase tickets and find out more about this unique event, visit the Capital Area United Way’s website by clicking here.
