Cop Out
Director Kevin Smith had his own run-in with authorities recently when Southwest Airlines asked him to leave a full flight because the heavyset director requires two seats, but his new police comedy Cop Out promises even more awkward laughs. In theaters Friday, Cop Out stars Bruce Willis as a veteran officer out to recollect a rare baseball card that may have been stolen by a memorabilia-obsessed gangster. Willis needs to sell the card to pay for his daughter’s wedding, and with the days counting down, he enlists his loose-cannon partner, 30 Rock’s Tracy Morgan, to help solve the case. Smith’s latest looks like a big departure from his previous films and into more Shane Black action comedy territory. Adam Brody, Kevin Pollack, Seann William Scott and Michelle Trachtenberg co-star. Rated R.
