Over ‘Complicated’
With 50% of married couples splitting, it was only a matter of time before Hollywood coined the term “Divorce with benefits.” Writer-director Nancy Myers, who brought us Baby Boom and Father of the Bride ages ago, and more recently flopped with The Holiday, gets the patent this Friday with the romantic comedy It’s Complicated. With his critical success on 30 Rock, Alec Baldwin tries his hand at feature films again as a divorced father ironically bored and flustered with his much younger trophy wife. After spontaneously hooking up with his ex-wife, played by Meryl Streep, Baldwin goes crusading to win her back and foil the advances of her other suitor, a nice-guy architect played by Steve Martin. Lake Bell and John Krasinski co-star. Rated R.
