Writing the ‘Broncos’

Writer/director Jared Hess shot to stardom five years ago with Napoleon Dynamite, and after 2006’s disappointing Nacho Libre, he’s back this Friday with his most serious film to date, Gentlemen Broncos. Michael Angarano plays an aspiring fantasy scribe who attends a writer’s convention only to have his ideas stolen by a famous author, played by Jermaine Clement of The Flight of the Concords fame. What’s worse, the big shot author’s book is then turned into a terrible film, and Angarano must decide whether to watch helplessly as his ideas become a train wreck or do what he can to right this injustice and avenge his creativity. Sam Rockwell co-stars. Rated PG-13.
