Above and beyond

The Foundation for Historical Louisiana will present a Preservation Salon and book signing at the Old Governor’s Mansion on Thursday night. Above Baton Rouge is a look at the aerial photography of real estate developer Fred Frey, who began taking photos from his Cessna 150 in the 1960s. With side-by-side comparisons of former tracts of forest that are now sprawling subdivisions, his book offers a different sort of perspective on Baton Rouge’s growth between the mid-20th century and now. Refreshments will be provided by Calandro’s Select Cellars and Fine Wines. Free to FHL members, $10 general admission. 6 p.m.
