You, Jane – Flick Pick
Long before Francis Ford Coppola camped out in the Philippines for two years to shoot Apocalypse Now, silent film director Scott Sidney took his cast and crew into the jungle for 11 grueling months to make a faithful adaptation of Edgar Rice Burroughs’ Tarzan of the Apes. Originally released in 1918, Tarzan is a silent film classic, and it is part of Baton Rouge Gallery’s Movies and Music on the Lawn series. Say goodbye to the summer by watching Tarzan Sept. 26, accompanied by a live music soundtrack on the big screen outside the gallery on the grounds of City Park. Tickets are $5, and the show starts at 8 p.m.
Next month the gallery concludes its silent movie series with an Oct. 31 screening of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde. batonrougegallery.org
