Whether you can only take 30 seconds of it or an entire afternoon, you have to admit South Louisiana’s swamp pop sound—with its French, Cajun and Creole influences—is a genre you just can’t find in any other corner of the planet. Absorb the sounds of Wayne Toups and Kenny Fife along with an endless list of musicians with last names like Broussard, Melancon and Thibodeaux. It’s truly a Louisiana musical treat, and proceeds help the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Gates open at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center at 5 p.m. Friday for $12, and 10 a.m. Saturday for $10, and the shows go extra, extra late into the evening.
